University of West London

In 2015 we partnered with Veale Associates to provide a complete solution for the refurbishment of the University of London’s broadcast radio facilities. Veale associates are a traditional studio building outfit and handled the physical outfit of the studios as well as the audio equipment installation. We handled the software and IT requirements of the project.

Our role was to provide a robust, scalable playout and news platform that would suit the needs of their radio related media and journalism courses. We also needed to provide a migration path from their incumbent system (RCS) to import existing audio as well as provide training to help the staff convert to the new technology. We installed a full Myriad playout system along with AutoTrack Pro for music and link scheduling.

We also provided multiple industrial grade playout PC’s and servers as well as all the software and network infrastructure (for the playout and audio networks).

To the left you can see the rack of 2u playout and infrastructure PC’s supplied and installed as part of our involvement in the project.

Below you can see a picture of the studio build in progress along with the Myriad Playout PC’s although in this instance, Veale Associates had provided and installed the studio equipment.

One of the most challenging aspects of this project was that the IT infrastructure and systems had to meet very strict criteria set by the University. Our team worked closely with Veale Associates and the University staff to assist in the transfer of content from the previous system, train staff on the new system and ensure a smooth integration with the Universities IT infrastructure.
